This past Sunday, Mark Prater said that the Lord had given him the sense that someone was walking through a "stormy" season. As you recall, he said the following:
"As we were singing, I had a spontaneous thought that some here are actually going through storms. And my mind went to Psalm 93, which essentially says,
'The Lord is greater than your storms and he is with you through them. He will sustain you and he will get you through.'"
What was particularly unique about Mark sharing this is that Zach, Tim, and I were under the same impression the week before, which explains our sermon on Mark 6:45-52.
So, my friend, if you are in a "stormy" season, be reminded of this truth from Mark's gospel: Jesus Knows and Jesus Controls.
The Sovereign One who commanded control over the wind and waves on the Sea of Galilee is the same one who promises to "be with you always, to the end of the age." Matthew 28:20
His intention in this storm is not to startle you or scare you but instead he says, "Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid." Mark 6:50
Therefore, what have we to fear, beloved? It is Him, whom our soul loves and know; who says to us "Do not be afraid."
So, if you are caught in a storm today, remind yourself of this truth:
I will not fear for Jesus has drawn me near. In my place, he stood condemned and for my sin he died for me to win.
Each moment, Jesus Knows! And every circumstance, Jesus Controls!
