I know many of you are waiting for a godly spouse to come into your life; others are waiting for healing in relationships; others are waiting for justice in the workplace; whatever it is that you are waiting for, avoid placing your confidence in your delivery but instead place all your faith in the Lord.
As we were reminded this past Sunday, we have a sure reason to never doubt the good purposes of God’s sovereign will: The Cross of Christ. Beloved, if you are in a season of waiting, and you feel your faith is failing, look afresh to Christ on the cross and be reminded of God’s good purposes on your behalf.
God sovereignly worked human history to find it’s ultimate culmination in the person of Jesus Christ. But for what purpose? To be exalted upon the earth? To be honored and respected?
No but for our sakes he made him to be sin who knew no sin so that we might become the righteousness of God in him.
Friends, the clearest example we have of God’s sovereignty working together for our good can be seen by that man on the cross. He became forsaken so that you and I would never be forsaken; he became a curse so that you and I would never be cursed; he became sin so that we would never have to taste the bitter punishment which our sins deserve.
The waiting room you are seated in has nothing to do with God’s lack of love for you; He proved that on the cross. Though you do not have what you deeply desire, you ultimately do not have what you most deserve: God’s righteous anger and wrath against you.
So, fight for faith to believe in God’s good purposes for your life despite the circumstances you are in. And remember that God's sovereignty speaks faith into whatever fears fill our future.
Your brother in Christ,
Matt
